Craters of the Moon National Monument

Millions of years old, this is the largest lava field we have ever seen. There are several lava tubes to be explored. Strange flowers grow from the lava. The heat can get up to 150 degrees in the summer. It is actually very beautiful to see. And very weird as well.

Lake McDonald & Hungry Horse Dam

Took a boat ride on the lake and looked inside the lodge. Then drove to Hungry Horse dam just outside the park.

Glacier National Park

Magnificent is the best way to describe this park. Teeming with wildlife, the drive over the Going to the sun Road provides an outstanding trip through the park with awesome vistas.

Little Big Horn Battlefield

This was a very interesting place to visit. The misinformation received by Custer that led him into battle caused the massacre, not an error in his judgement.

Devils Tower WY

Devils Tower
stands 867 feet from the base. The indians consider this a sacred place and leave bits of cloth for religious reasons. A big field of prairie dogs is nearby. Several climbers were on the tower when we visited.

Mt Rushmore

Incredible......inspiring.......unforgettable

Deadwood SD

Deadwood SD started as a gold mining town in 1875. Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane were there for less than a year. She was not his girlfriend as she claimed. She died an alcoholic and asked to be buried next to Bill. Bill hardly knew the woman. There are several historic sites in town. The Mt Moriah cementary has several sections including civil war casualties. This is a very neat town to visit.

Jewel Cave

The map shows the current known parts of the cave. It is 146.24 miles right now and they are still mapping it. The different colors on the map show the three levels of the cave.

Chief Crazy Horse Monument

This is a massive undertaking that was started in 1948. The sculptor wife and 7 of his 10 children are continuing his work.
It will dwarf Mt Rushmore.
